AskCappy is free to read, and we want to be completely open about how we pay for it. Some links on our site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy or sign up, we may earn a commission. This never costs you anything extra; instead, our links even get you a discount.

We share this to be transparent with you and to follow the rules of the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the affiliate programs we work with.

What is an affiliate link?

An affiliate link is a special link that tells a software company you came from AskCappy. If you sign up for a paid plan or buy something after clicking it, the company pays us a small commission. The price you pay stays the same.

Affiliate links usually appear as buttons like “Try ClickUp” or “Visit website”, or as product names in our reviews, comparisons and best-of lists.

Who we work with

We join affiliate programs run directly by software companies and through affiliate networks such as [PartnerStack, Impact and CJ]. The list of companies changes over time.

[Only if you join Amazon Associates, add this exact line:] As an Amazon Associate, AskCappy earns from qualifying purchases.

Our promise: commissions never decide our picks

Trust is the reason people ask Cappy, so we follow these rules:

  • We review tools whether or not they pay us. Many tools we cover have no affiliate program at all.
  • The Cappy Score is based on our testing only. Commission rates never raise or lower a score.
  • Cappy’s Pick goes to the best tool for the job, even when it earns us nothing or less than another option.
  • We tell you the downsides. Every review includes cons and who a tool is not right for, including tools that pay us.
  • We’ll update or remove a recommendation if a tool gets worse, even if it’s one of our best earners.

Ads, sponsored content and featured listings

Besides affiliate links, AskCappy may earn money in a few other ways. We always label them clearly:

Type What it means How it’s labelled
Display ads Ads shown by networks like Google AdSense. We don’t choose the specific ads you see. “Advertisement”
Sponsored content A company paid us to publish or promote a specific article. “Sponsored” at the top of the article
Featured listings A company paid for a highlighted spot in our tool directory. “Featured” badge
Free access for testing A company gave us a free account or trial so we could review its tool. Mentioned in the review

A paid placement never changes a Cappy Score or Cappy’s Pick, and sponsored links are marked so search engines know they’re paid.
