Ask Cappy Before You Buy Software

Buying software shouldn’t feel like a gamble. AskCappy helps you pick the right tool the first time, with honest reviews, side-by-side comparisons and practical guides written by someone who uses SaaS every day.

So before you subscribe, upgrade or sign that yearly contract, ask Cappy.

Why AskCappy exists

There are thousands of software tools, and every one of them claims to be the best. Many “reviews” online are rewritten sales pages, and free trials often end before you discover a tool’s real limits.

Picking the wrong software costs more than the subscription. It costs hours of setup, a team that has to learn it, and the pain of switching later.

We built AskCappy to cut through that noise. We test the tools, explain what they’re really like to use, and tell you plainly which one fits your needs, including when the answer is “none of them.”

What you’ll find here

  • Honest reviews: what a tool does well, where it falls short, and who it’s really for.
  • Head-to-head comparisons: two or more tools side by side, with Cappy’s Pick for each type of user.
  • Best-of lists: our top choices for specific needs, like the best CRM for startups or the best free project management tool.
  • Pricing breakdowns: what each plan actually includes, plus the hidden costs vendors don’t put on the pricing page.
  • Step-by-step tutorials: how to set up and get real value from the tools you choose.
  • The AskCappy tool directory: a growing library of software, organized by category, price and use case.

Meet Cappy

Cappy is the friendly voice of AskCappy: honest, practical and never in a hurry to sell you something. Think of Cappy as the friend who has already tried the tool you’re considering.

Behind Cappy is someone who works in the SaaS industry and uses these tools every day. From the inside, we’ve seen how tools are built, sold, and bought, and how often teams end up paying for the wrong one.

AskCappy was started to give buyers the straight answers we always wished we’d had: what a tool is really like after the demo ends, what it costs once you grow, and whether it’s worth it for someone like you.

How we stay honest

Trust is the whole point of AskCappy, so we follow a few simple rules:

  • We use the tools we review. We sign up, set them up and work in them, and every review includes our own screenshots.
  • Every review gets a Cappy Score. It rates ease of use, features, value for money and support, and we explain exactly how it works on our How We Review page.
  • Cappy’s Pick is never for sale. Companies can’t pay for a better score, a higher ranking or a place in our recommendations.
  • We’re open about how we earn. Some links on AskCappy are affiliate links, so we may earn a commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. It never changes what we recommend. Read our Affiliate Disclosure for details.
  • We tell you who a tool is not for. A great tool for a 200-person company can be a poor fit for a freelancer, and we’ll say so.
  • We keep it fresh. Software and prices change fast, so we update our reviews and show the date each page was last checked.
